Hydroponics
A number of 'creators' on LinkedIn have recently started promoting hydroponics as the solution for the global hunger issues, specifically for urban markets. In case you are unaware, the hydroponics concept is not new, the earliest version fueled the ancient Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. These magnificent hanging terraces utilized a form of hydroponics to grow lush gardens without natural soil, using nutrient-rich water instead. Fast forward to 2025, hydroponics can grow many times the amount of food as compared to traditional "dirt farming" because multiple levels of plants can be grown in the same space and vertical growing systems is an interesting addition for locations limited on space.
A number of technologies used in ag business today utilize hydroponics - The benefits are many, such as reduced threat from adverse weather and pests, less water use, easier to control heating and cooling (depending on the type of greenhouse used), automation, and more.
